Europe’s last Candy Bomber needs your support!
On June 19th, 2010, the Berlin Candy Bomber was forced to make an emergency landing at the Berlin-Schönefeld Airport.
The historic aircraft survived, but suffered serious damages. Just five days after the emergency landing, pilots and aviation fans alike came together to form a society dedicated to the rebuilding of the airplane and bringing it back to life.
For the members of the association, it’s a cause dear to their hearts: preserving the Candy Bomber as a flying legend and as a memorial to the Berlin Airlift of 1948/1949. Under the leadership of honorary chairman Captain Heinz-Dieter Kallbach, the first head captain of the plane from Berlin, they have made serious efforts to realize the full repair of this machine. The story of the Douglas DC-3 that once made the survival of so many Berliners possible is a story that cannot be forgotten.
Help us keep the Candy Bomber and its story alive!
